My Time at Portia
The characters of Portia are unique; from the mayor of Portia to the farmers of the ranch, every character has a story to tell, personal gifting and dining preferences, and a unique lifestyle. The player character can be played as a male or female. The player can traverse the world of Portia and meet the townsfolk, take on commissions posted by the people, and gain relationship points through social interaction, romance, and gifting.

The following characters are citizens of Portia, but only appear during certain parts of the year. Allen Carter visits every weekend for the Inspections, while Builder Wang and Sweet only visit during the Workshop Rank awards ceremony. They can be chatted with, but no relationship can be built with them. The Dee-Dee driver is only seen during cutscenes when using the Dee-Dee Transport System.
Additionally, Cent and Han, the only named tourists, visit Portia on occasion. Cent is unique among tourists in that he is willing to play Rock, Paper, Scissors with the player. Neither character has their own portrait art.
These characters are not citizens of Portia, but they do visit during the course of the game.
Some characters are seen throughout the game but do not have known names, such as the tourists that visit periodically and the construction workers that come to work on the Portia Bridge during the mission of the same name, The Portia Bridge. No relationship can be built with these characters, though tourists may sometimes set up a Temporary Store in the Abandoned Ruins.

Some characters are currently unreleased, though at one point or another, they had images that were discovered from the asset files. Unreleased elements could be pre-alpha version elements, and may or may not ever be released.
My Time at Sandrock
Concept art for a number of My Time at Sandrock characters was revealed during the Kickstarter campaign. Mason, who makes an appearance in My Time at Portia after the player completes the main storyline, will make an appearance in Sandrock. Likewise, the mayor he mentions, will make an appearance in Sandrock. Other identified characters are, Justice, the sheriff, Amirah, a pottery artist, and Cooper, a rancher.
Only one player character has been shown: a male player character, Max, with short black hair, armed with a sword and gear-shaped shield, seen only from behind.
