⁠⁠	If you find anything of value from the old world, please donate it to us. You have no idea how much a discovery can change the world. Don't listen to what the Church has to say; we just want to progress towards a better world!

⁠⁠	The people in church are so stubborn! Why shouldn't we use technology from the old world? They obviously can make our lives more convenient. It really doesn't make any sense...

⁠⁠	There are many forgotten technologies from the old world. Last time, Arlo found a self-heating box. When Merlin tried heating an egg with it, it almost blew up the Research Center.

⁠⁠	I'm originally from Ethea. I came here because there are several old documents saying there exists a computer artificial intelligence called the All Source around these parts. You still see a robot or two out and about in our cities once in a while, but this All Source AI was supposed to be one of the best AIs ever created. I want to meet it!

⁠⁠	Research shows, in the ruins near Portia, there are a lot of valuable contraptions from the old time waiting to be discovered. It would be a pleasure to work here!

⁠⁠	My teacher, Merlin, has to be in the top 10 anthropologists in the world. I need to work hard to catch up to her!

⁠⁠	The research center can help with the optical disk you found in the ruins. There has to be something in there that you can use.

⁠⁠	My busy work schedule at the research center can't stop me from reading books. I like the books that cover a variety of subjects.

⁠⁠	I had a long discussion with Isaac the other day about the ethics of genetic editing the ancient society did to all the different species. It was enlightening. Isaac keeps to himself, but he's really smart!

Seasons

Spring

⁠⁠	Greeings, Player.(sic) Do you know why smog still occurs sometimes, even though our great hero, Peach, brought back the blue sky? The research shows that there are more foggy days in the spring. When that couples with pollution, it becomes smog. But unlike Duvos, Portia has almost no smog.

⁠⁠	Do you feel sleepy sometimes? That's quite common in the spring. The research shows spring days are shorter and warmer than winter days - which creates the perfect conditions to sleep in. haha!

Summer

⁠⁠	It has been like the inside of a furnace recently. Fortunately the fan technology from the old days is quite mature and refrigeration tech is being recovered. According to the law of conservation of energy, the air-conditioners merely expel the hot air out of the room. I don't think that's ideal.

⁠⁠	Summer has the brightest sky. Stars look so reachable. I'd love a chance to get a close look at the surface of the planets. Did you know in the old days people used the Hubble telescope to observe stars 20 billion light-years away. That's just incredible. But after the apocalypse, we lost contact with the Hubble. They say it has already gotten lost in the vast universe.

Autumn

⁠⁠	Everyone is very happy with the harvest, but Emily's manual harvesting method is very tedious. Farms in Dovus(sic) and Seesai are equipped with automatic harvesters. The efficiency can't match that of the old times', but it is still higher than manual work.

Winter

⁠⁠	If it wasn't for the interesting work at the research center, I'd rather sleep in like the polar bears. Did you know, according to the research, polar bears' outer skins have really long hair that is well greased and hollow. That's how they keep their warmth even in the snow or dry up quickly after getting wet. I wish I had that.

⁠⁠	The Director and I have been trying to neutralize this pollutant, but it's proving kind of tough. It's definitely a chemical from the Old World.

Assemble Dee-Dee Transport

⁠⁠	I think the Dee-Dees will really improve our lives! If nothing else, it's a demonstration of the good use of ancient technology.

⁠⁠	What did I tell you? The Dee-Dees are awesome, right?

The Cave on Amber Island

⁠⁠	I'm glad this whole incident with the rat thieves is over. I was worried someone might come and steal things from the Research Center.

The Poisoned Water

⁠⁠	We made a special filter for our water supply so that we'll be able to filter the bigger pollutants. I don't think we can do much about the microscopic chemicals...so continue to boil your water, I guess.

The Crashed Station

⁠⁠	Despite the rarity of a living AI, there's not too much information we can gleem from them. They were very specialized in what they do, and we don't know how their microchip sets work.

Rescue in Ingall's Mine

⁠⁠	Glad you're okay! Did you find any interesting relics down there in Ingall's Mine?

Adventures with Mali

⁠⁠	I've been trying to get the All Source locator to work somehow. It can power up now, but that's as far as it goes.

To Light the Way

⁠⁠	I've already started doing some research on potential machines the Mayor will need for the harbor. This won't be easy.

The Theft

⁠⁠	Well, at least we got the locator computer back. I bet the thief didn't know what this is, so he sold it to the dumbest bidder.

The Haunted Cave

⁠⁠	Oh! The new haunted cave sounds interesting! Maybe I'll visit sometimes. They did say that the cave led to a closed off ruin...maybe I'll be able to find it again!

The Perfect Trap

⁠⁠	The Civil Corps is constantly checking in on us. Since we don't have the passcode, it's not like the knight will find anything useful here. But why is he after All Source?

• ⁠⁠ I do travel a lot, but I don't really sight see too much. I'm mostly looking at all the interesting relics that people unearth. Vega 5 was very interesting! That whole city was carved from a relic.

  • ⁠⁠ The people in the Old World did this thing called "science", where they would have a theory, then test it out to prove or disprove it - thus gaining knowledge. We're don't really do too much science now.^(sic) We're more like archaeologists learning about things history forgot. But I really want to do some "science".
  • ⁠⁠ I'm not sure what I expected when I signed up to work with Merlin, haha. She's really famous among the people who study relics. She's really smart, but she can be a little too absorbed in her world sometimes.

• (What is it like working at the Research Center?)
  • ⁠⁠ I get to be in constant contact with some of the most advanced relics from the Old World. There's a feeling of aw and terror at the same time, you know what I mean?
    • (What was the most awe inspiring relic you've seen?)
      • I saw a crystal globe once that could make it snow inside, with a projected picture of a couple. That was awe inspiring.
    • (What was the most terrifying relic you've seen?)
      • I once saw a weapon that could tear a hole in the wall when I was in Vega 5. After that, I actually agreed with the Church's position on destroying the dangerous relics... but I still want to study them first.
