Every character has unique gift preferences that alters their reaction, measured in relationship points, to being gifted a specific item. When a gift is reacted to non-neutrally, the gift is registered on the character's preferences. This allows the player to easily track which gift is liked or disliked.
- Most items given as gifts are reacted neutrally to, awarding only +1 base point (except for Ginger and Pinky.)
- Certain gifts are loved, liked, disliked, or hated; each character has both universal and unique preferences.
- Loved gifts earn the most points, while hated gifts detract the most points.
- Learning certain Skills increases the player's chances of earning bonus points when giving gifts.
