Road to the Marsh has two options: the Eastern route and the Western route. The Eastern route is the easier route with lesser rewards, while the Western route requires more materials for construction but with a greater compensation for tackling the harder route.
If the Western route is taken, the Tree Farm must be unlocked in order to access the back area leading to the construction site.
After the Council Guards arrive to Portia, Sam relays a message from Gale announcing that the Alliance Council made the decision regarding the All Source AI; Gale summons the player to attend the meeting in the Town Hall.
Hey kid, got a message from the Mayor, he wants you to know that the Alliance Council has made a decision regarding All Source and the knight, he wants you in his office for a meeting today! Got it?
Well, you've become a very reliable part of our team, so maybe that's why?
At the Town Hall, Ursula, the captain of the Council Guards, discusses the importance of finding the All Source AI in order to face adversaries such as Duvos.
Ah, Player, glad you can join us!
Now that everyone's here, let's start with the meeting. This here is Ms. Ursula, a captain of the Council Guards. She and her team have been sent here by the council to reinforce us, I...
Yes, yes. Let me just get to the point. After listening to the report from Mali, the Council has decided that it's imperative that we find the All Source AI right away. It's essential to the survival of the Free Cities in the face of adversaries like Duvos.
You want to use it against Duvos?
That's not for me to say. My mission is to find it and take it back to Atara for study.
You know, I'm never one to stand in the way of progress, and this is going to make me sound like Lee, but who made a decision like that? We don't know anything about All Source! Mayor?
I have received a telegraph from our representative saying that the majority of the Council voted for this... I can't believe it myself.
Those fools.
I brought the passcode key back with me, I'll need the researchers to help us locate the AI.
How come Mali didn't come?
She's still being debriefed, especially about this rogue knight. She'll come later.
What am I here for?
We might run into situations where we need Builders, so I thought a man of your reputation needed to know.
Also, we'll establish a team to look for and eliminate this rogue knight. Arlo, why don't you lead that team. Take one of my men, Ryder. Start with the perimeter of the town, we don't know where he could be hiding.
Sure.
We'll start looking for the AI right away, I'll be in touch. Any questions?
Uh...
Good, that is all. Meeting adjourned.
Conduct of the mission[]
The following morning after the meeting, Ursula sends a letter to the player regarding the location of the All Source AI:
Builder,
We've figured out the way to the All Source, come and see me. Ursula
Ursula can be found at the Research Center. Upon talking to Ursula:
Builder, glad you're here. The operation is about to start. Let me explain.
From the Locator Computer, we've uncovered that to reach the All Source location, we'll need to manually turn on three keys at three separate locations. Following?
We have identified these locations, but two of them are in The Somber Marsh north of Portia. And from what I've gathered, they are hard to get to. That's priority number one for you Builders. You and Higgins are to build up all necessary links to the marsh.
Since you got here first, you get to pick which route you want to establish, the western route or the eastern route? Just so you know, the western route is a bit tougher to build.
The items are installed past the far side of the Tree Farm. The Player needs to climb a hill when reaching the end of the Tree Farm to get to the building site.
Build the Second Pathway[]
After crafting and installing the first batch of items, the player needs to construct and bring the following items to complete the second pathway:
After building and installing the Metal Ramp, the player needs to report to Ursula.
All the routes have been completed? Good, I'll have someone check them out right away. The Mayor's office will compensate you for your work. In the meantime, we have an issue with the Tree Farm Ruins.
We've been diving that ruin for the first key this entire time, blasting away at some of the doors and finding shortcuts through other passages. But the core area's protected by an impenetrable blast gate. I need you to take a look and come up with a solution.
Okay, I'll take a look.
I'm a little busy at the moment.
→ Okay, I'll take a look.
Ten is guarding the entrance to prevent the knight from getting in, he'll guide you inside. I'd suggest you equip yourself, it's still very dangerous in there.
Ah, thank you so much for helping with the routes, I was planning to build them for the city soon anyway, so this is working out. How's the work with the recovery team? They're a little bit rough around the edges if you ask me. And the Captain doesn't tell me much.
She's very bossy!
Is Mali coming back yet?
→ She's very bossy!
Oh, I know! I tried to get more information about her through Atara since I haven't heard of her before, but the only reply I got was that she's one of their top soldiers, so get along with her. Gols +5000 Reputation +50
→ Is Mali coming back yet?
I haven't heard from Mali yet, and that worries me. This whole situation with getting this All Source computer to fight against Duvos doesn't sit too well with me. This isn't what the Free Cities is about. We'll fight for what is ours, but is reviving a powerful ancient machine really the way to go about it?
Did you argue with the Alliance Council about it?
I did. But since we signed up with the Alliance Charter, we have to go with what the majority decided... unless we want to go independent. Haha, don't worry, I'm not planning that.
Post-conduct[]
Completing this mission reveals the entire map of the Somber Marsh, thus completing the map. Additionally, the route the player did not take is completed by Higgins.
