Parts Boxes are buried boxes containing relic materials.

Obtaining[]

Parts Boxes can be found by quarrying in any Abandoned Ruins. They appear as a yellow dot when scanned for with the first or second level Relic Detector, or a rectangular box when scanned with the third level Relic Detector. Once uncovered, they appear as a red metal box, and will fly to the player once near enough.

Usage[]

The boxes themselves are not obtained as items, and upon contact with the player, their contents are automatically added to the player's inventory. However, Parts Boxes can only be picked up with at least one empty slot in the player’s inventory, even if all their contents would stack up with already collected items.

Contents[]

The possible contents of a Parts Box differ depending on the Abandoned Ruin that the box is found in. Some of these items can only be found within Parts Boxes, while others can also be mined up individually or found as loot elsewhere.

When a Parts Box is obtained, a number of items are picked from a pool of fixed items as well as a pool of additional items. The exact number of items obtained is determined by chance. The player is guaranteed to get at least three items from a Parts Box found in the Abandoned Ruins #1, Desert Abandoned Ruins, and Somber Marsh Abandoned Ruins and at least two items from a Parts Box found in the Abandoned Ruins #2. Additional items are not guaranteed: each item from the pool has its own (usually low) chance to appear. Only one of each additional items can be found in a given Parts Box.  verify ]

Trivia[]

  • There was previously a bug on the PC version of My Time at Portia where Parts Boxes would be picked up directly into the inventory. These Parts Boxes had no use and could only be abandoned.[1]
