Pigments are used for both crafting and changing the color of various furniture.

Dyeing furniture[]

Furniture can be dyed by holding Pigments in an active inventory slot and interacting with the furniture. When used, it will bring up a color wheel for all of the parts of the item that can be colored, where the player will be able to select new colors, preview them, and confirm or cancel their selection. On PC versions played with keyboard and mouse, the color picker can be controlled by mouse. On console versions and PC versions played with a controller, the R3 button (pushing the right stick down) is used. One Pigment is consumed each time a color is changed, and the furniture can be dyed as many times as the player desires.

Certain furniture have two elements that can be dyed, such as the original white bed frame and darker wood panel of the Oak Double Bed. Dyeing one part would cost one Pigment, while dyeing both would cost two.

Some furniture cannot be dyed. For a list of which furniture can or cannot be dyed, as well as the amount of Pigments that can be used on furniture that can be dyed, please see the ⁠⁠ columns on the furniture page.
