Chat is a basic social interaction available at any relationship level. Chatting with Yeye once a day can increase her relationship by 1 point, or 2 points with the Smooth Talk skill; subsequent chatting, on the same day, only results in the same conversation without any relationship gain.
Yeye's dialogue may change every day and every season. Yeye may also comment about certain events or missions. Higher relationship levels also change Yeye's dialogue.
Gift[]
Giving gifts to Yeye affects the player's relationship with Yeye. Every character has unique gift preferences.
Tips:
- Every giftable item, except for the items below, will have a Neutral (+1) effect when given to Yeye.
- Gifts given on festival days and on Yeye's birthday will earn the player 2x and 3x relationship points, respectively, and will show a unique dialogue.
- Values listed below are without The Giver skill, which gives an extra point.

-
A Cruel Winter
- Siwa borrowed a lot of quilts from Yeye because he was too cold, which led to a lack of quilts in the hotel. Yeye wants you to help Siwa make some quilts and bring back the ones in the hotel.
Trivia[]
- Prior to the official launch of My Time at Portia on Steam, Yeye had no unique gift preferences. Likewise, she had no unique preferences until the May 23, 2019 update for PS4 and Xbox and the May 26 update for Switch.
- She is the Hulu Brothers' grandmother on their father's side, as her Chinese name in-game is 叶叶奶奶 (Yèyè nǎi nai, "Grandmother Yèyè") and nǎi nai is the title for the grandmother on the father's side.
- Incidentally, 爷爷 (yé ye), a similar-sounding word with different inflection, translates to "grandpa".
